Part of our sustainability strategy involves the gradual switch to more resource-efficient materials in our BRAX products.

With the expansion of our Blue Planet line, this switch has become visible both to us and to our customers. BRAX products awarded the "Blue Planet" label are made from at least 50% sustainable materials. They also benefit from numerous recognized standards, certifications, and quality seals.

Through our partnership with Cotton made in Africa (CmiA), we help smallholder farmers in Africa to grow cotton in a sustainable and resource-conserving way, all the while increasing yields.

BRAX uses the mass balance system, which allows for CmiA cotton to be mixed with non-certified cotton during the manufacturing process. As a result, the cotton can be easily integrated into our supply chains. Products with the "Supporting the Cotton made in Africa Initiative" label help increase the demand for CmiA cotton, thereby allowing smallholder farmers in Africa to improve their living conditions via their own efforts.

The organic farming of natural fibers is a practice that combines tradition, science, and innovation. Cultivation methods that are harmful to the environment (which are common in conventional cotton farming) are prohibited.

Unlike conventional farming, organic farming prohibits the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers and is therefore better for air & water quality and the health of farmers

Since rainwater is mainly used for irrigation (instead of groundwater), the amount of water required for organic fibers is lower than that of conventionally grown fibers.

TENCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ are trademarks of Lenzing AG. Both are cellulose fibers (Lyocell and viscose) obtained from wood. Lenzing AG purchases wood and pulp from responsibly managed forests and verifiably certified sources.

The production of TENCEL™ Lyocell and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose is more environmentally friendly than that of conventional cellulose fibers. For example, the water used in the spinning process for TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers is recycled. In addition, more than 99% of the auxiliary materials used are also recycled. Compared to conventional viscose, the production of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose fibers generates up to 50% less water pollution and emissions.

By using recycled fibers, we're taking an important step toward achieving a circular economy. At BRAX, we use synthetic fibers and materials made from recycled plastic (e.g., PET bottles). All the recycled fibers used in our products are certified according to the strictest standards.

The Environmental Impact Measurement (EIM) Score makes it possible to evaluate the environmental impact of finishing processes. The evaluated categories are water, energy, and the use of chemicals. The occupational health and safety of employees is also included in the final score. A traffic light system makes it easy to view and compare the results for each individual product.

Our goal is to continuously improve our EIM Score for our denim products. To achieve this goal, we are constantly fine-tuning our production processes and reducing our consumption of water, energy, and chemicals, all the while complying with strict social and environmental standards.
