EIM STANDS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT MEASUREMENT.
Using the EIM score, it is possible to make sustainability measurable within the manufacturing process. The EIM score assesses the environmental influences that come into effect in industrial washing. The result is of course presented using a traffic light system. The assessment considers the categories of water, energy and chemicals. The effects are clearly categorised in green, orange and red. During the assessment, employee’s occupational health & safety conditions also contribute to the score..
OUR APPROACH
This is exactly where we started. The EIM score provides a valid and comparable evaluation system. Our goal is that our pants would be awarded the green, and therefore the best, EIM score. To this end, we are further developing our manufacturing procedure and reducing the consumption of water, energy and chemicals, while also adhering to strict social and environmental standards. Already today, the majority of our pants achieve the green EIM score - a success that we are constantly expanding..
MORE BLUE PLANET
FUR FREE RETAILER PROGRAM
In 2020, we decided to join the FUR FREE RETAILER PROGRAM (FFRP) to demonstrate our commitment to greater sustainability and animal welfare, as well as to reinforce our long-standing promise to refrain from using real fur in our products.
RECYCLED
Unfortunately, huge quantities of waste are still generated during the production of clothing. In order avoid this, we endeavour to recycle materials that are no longer in use, rather than disposing of them.
ECOVERO
Our aim at BRAX is to select materials that are sustainable and production processes that are environmentally friendly and future proof. Therefore, we have decided to expand our range with another sustainable quality, the viscose fibre branded under LENZING™ ECOVERO™
ORGANIC COTTON
In contrast to conventional cotton cultivation, mainly natural strategies are used when growing organic cotton. The use of pesticides and artificial fertilisers is prohibited, which has a particularly positive effect on the water and air quality, but also on the health of the cotton farmers.
TENCEL™
When manufacturing fabrics, TENCEL™ fibres consume significantly less fresh water when compared to conventional cotton. They come from cellulose, which is acquired from wood from sustainable forestry.
SEAQUAL INITIATIVE
By supporting the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, BRAX is part of a community that promotes the cleaning of our oceans, supports local communities and that seeks to put an end to plastic pollution. SEAQUAL® YARN contains upcycled marine plastic, as well as plastic from plastic bottles. The material is traceable and certified.
COTTON MADE IN AFRICA (CmiA)
Since 2005, the Cotton made in Africa initiative has set itself the goal of sustainably improving the living conditions of cotton farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. By purchasing BRAX products that bear the Cotton made in Africa label, you are making a significant contribution to the future of Africa, while also protecting the natural environment in the growing regions.
